Really not happy about the fact that I just fucked up my nails trying to put a bra on UPS guy. Especially because the package wasn't even for me.

Time for the top coat and packing. Back to Connecticut this weekend for a birthday and those McLovins.

I know everyone's been down on the Merlin fandom lately, but may I suggest going through [livejournal.com profile] vesperdivum's epic rec posts? I've been making my way through them for the last couple weeks and I've discovered and rediscovered some awesome fic. Exactly what I needed during my pre-menstrual haze.

That and You, Me, and Everyone We Know which I cannot stop listening to. Here are my favorites:

And my absolute favorite, if only for the line: But the problem with change is it's hard, like finding lively conversation in graveyards

Really I have to stop or I will post every song on the album. It's really just that good.
This just might be my new favorite thing. I don't know who wrote/created it yet but my eternal love goes out to you.

Blind Items

From the GK Battle
I'm joining the reccing party.

Seriously if you're not already reading The Student Prince what are you even doing here?

GO. READ. NOW.

It's gotten me excited about Merlin again and gotten me back into the fandom, which I've been ignoring for months.

Series 3 time yet? Any rumors of when it's going to air? I'm thinking Fall/November/December time frame.

Oh and it's hot outside. Very Very HOT.

I want to die. Me and heat do NOT mix.

Day 13 → A fictional book

I just finished reading The Eight by Katherine Neville. If you like historical fiction, historical mystery or Dan Brown you need to read this book right now. Dan Brown gets a lot of attention for his brand of fiction, but this book is the original, which is why I bought it like five years ago. I'll be honest I am a Dan Brown fan, though I prefer Deception Point and Angels and Demons to his other books.

There are two timelines in this book so if you know a lot about the French Revolution, which I unfortunately do, it's a lot more interesting. Tons of historical figures from Charlemagne to Catherine the Great to Benedict Arnold make appearances. Truly fantastic.

Day 14 → A non-fictional book

Yes We Have No: Adventures in the Other England by Nik Cohn. I found this book when reading shelves one day while I was working at my local library. It sounded like something I would love and I definitely did. I don't even think this book is still in print and I'm pretty sure I was the only person to ever take it out, but some of my favorite quotes come from this book. It truly gives you a look at places in England that most of us would never hear about let alone visit. If you're an anglophile of any kind, definitely give a search for it.

Day 15 → A fanfic

My fandom recs look something like everything in the GK fandom and anything that [livejournal.com profile] the_slash_pile you need to be.

Broken Wings by Katica Locke

79 chapters of epic gay fantasy. This probably isn't for everyone and I'm not even sure it's for me. But I read this in like two days of pretty much non stop reading.

The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek aka Chartreuse aka [livejournal.com profile] gomichan

One of the best novels I've read ever. It's a little fantasy, a little sci-fi, a little western, a lot gay and just amazing. Another one I read in a day. I'll buy it eventually, but for now it's available for free online. If you like your gay heavy on plot and action with minimal amounts of smut this is for you. Just read it. You won't be disappointed.

His fictionpress account where everything is gold. Especially Just Drive the Car and May's Ranch.

And if you haven't read Metaonia yet, you need to get on that.

Quinntessential by the milk bottle
Awkward roommate love. Angst and wonderfulness. I wish it wasn't a WIP but it happens. I need more.

I could rec all day, but I don't feel like searching for everything. I love [livejournal.com profile] the_slash_pile and you should too.

Days 4-8

Dec. 9th, 2009 12:29 am
Just catching up. I was in NYC all weekend without my computer and then I was just lazy Sunday night and yesterday. So lots of insanity today. Still haven't watched Merlin. I'll get to it tomorrow, maybe.

The weekend was fine. Weather was shitty all day Saturday. Sadly no snow, just rain. And there's nothing on the ground here. Boo. Almost makes me wish I was still in Vermont. We barely left the apartment. Got ridiculously stoned Saturday morning and then again that night. Two weeks without weed makes me crazy. Or whatever strain that was. All of my insecurities came out. I apparently have a lot of problems with The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Oh well.

Pissed Jim Parsons didn't win an Emmy. Though NPH is awesome. Generation Kill better win or things are gonna get ugly.
