Day 13 → A fictional book

I just finished reading The Eight by Katherine Neville. If you like historical fiction, historical mystery or Dan Brown you need to read this book right now. Dan Brown gets a lot of attention for his brand of fiction, but this book is the original, which is why I bought it like five years ago. I'll be honest I am a Dan Brown fan, though I prefer Deception Point and Angels and Demons to his other books.
There are two timelines in this book so if you know a lot about the French Revolution, which I unfortunately do, it's a lot more interesting. Tons of historical figures from Charlemagne to Catherine the Great to Benedict Arnold make appearances. Truly fantastic.
Day 14 → A non-fictional book

Yes We Have No: Adventures in the Other England by Nik Cohn. I found this book when reading shelves one day while I was working at my local library. It sounded like something I would love and I definitely did. I don't even think this book is still in print and I'm pretty sure I was the only person to ever take it out, but some of my favorite quotes come from this book. It truly gives you a look at places in England that most of us would never hear about let alone visit. If you're an anglophile of any kind, definitely give a search for it.
Day 15 → A fanfic
My fandom recs look something like everything in the GK fandom and anything that
the_slash_pile you need to be.
Broken Wings by Katica Locke79 chapters of epic gay fantasy. This probably isn't for everyone and I'm not even sure it's for me. But I read this in like two days of pretty much non stop reading.
The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek aka Chartreuse aka
gomichan One of the best novels I've read ever. It's a little fantasy, a little sci-fi, a little western, a lot gay and just amazing. Another one I read in a day. I'll buy it eventually, but for now it's available for free online. If you like your gay heavy on plot and action with minimal amounts of smut this is for you. Just read it. You won't be disappointed.
His
fictionpress account where everything is gold. Especially Just Drive the Car and May's Ranch.
And if you haven't read Metaonia yet, you need to get on that.
Quinntessential by the milk bottleAwkward roommate love. Angst and wonderfulness. I wish it wasn't a WIP but it happens. I need more.
I could rec all day, but I don't feel like searching for everything. I love
the_slash_pile and you should too.
